And yet, they never called me for an interview…
Part of my cover letter for a job at Xtracycle.com:
Someone anonymously sent me this job posting from Craigslist because they know it’s a job that plays to both my talents and passions: the web and bikes. When I say I’m into bikes, I’m not just saying that to get this job. Let me put it this way: my reputation for bicycling, bike advocacy and general disdain for prevalent car culture is so well known that my friends never say the word “freedom” and “car” in the same sentence around me! But coming in a close second to my love for bikes, is my love for the web and the internet. Similarly, the same freedom and instant gratification that comes from cycling can be found on the web’s ability to empower, publish and foster community, usually for free. An opportunity for me to combine these passions is just too tasty to pass up.
Not professional enough?
I know you well enough to know that you mean it, but it can probably come off a little hokey with the wording/exclamation point…
